About Our Hospital

Kindred’s newest Las Vegas hospital is located on the campus of Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, on the fifth floor of the main hospital. Known as a "Hospital in a Hospital" (HIH), the 40-bed Kindred Hospital is part of Kindred Healthcare, Inc., and is located in space leased by Universal Healthcare Inc., parent company of Desert Springs Hospital. Kindred Hospital Las Vegas at Desert Springs Hospital is a satellite facility of Kindred Hospital Las Vegas Sahara.

The HIH care model enhances the close and collaborative working relationship that a long-term acute care (LTAC) hospital such as Kindred has with a short-term acute care (STAC) hospital such as Desert Springs. Most LTAC patients are referred from STAC hospitals. Having an onsite LTAC hospital benefits the host hospital by allowing easier placement of patients who have specialized, long-term acute care needs.

Kindred Hospital Las Vegas at Desert Springs Hospital provides up to 40 medical/surgical beds for medically complex, high-acuity patients who require an extended stay in an acute care hospital setting. Additionally, the facility provides intermediate care (IMC) with a four-to-one nurse to patient ratio for higher acuity patients. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission.
