Kindred Hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. In addition to our core services, we offer:
When illness or surgery adversely affects a patient’s stomach or digestive system and they cannot take in nourishment by mouth, we administer medication and nutrition through a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) or a PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) until the patient recovers.
Our case management team coordinates and facilitates the transfer of patients to our hospital from referral sources such as skilled nursing centers and standard-care hospitals.
We treat complications – including lung infections, pneumonia and clogged airways – that arise from a compromised respiratory system.
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from a physician’s office, an extended care facility or skilled nursing center, or from an short-term acute care hospital emergency room.
Our interdisciplinary team of geriatric specialists includes physicians, rehabilitation therapists, dietitians and mental-health professionals. Their objective is to help our senior patients live life to its fullest.
Occupational medicine is devoted to prevention and management of occupational and environmental injury, illness and disability.
Palliative care is designed for patients with active, advanced disease and a short life expectancy. The focus of care is to prevent or relieve symptoms and to do everything possible to improve the patient’s quality of life.
For many, gaining the strength necessary to be weaned from prolonged mechanical ventilation requires that rehabilitation, continued medical treatment and weaning occur together. During this process, an interdisciplinary team works with the patient addressing deficits in motor function, cognition, nutrition and communication.
Your clinical treatment is the chief responsibility of your physician. As a member of the medical staff, your physician makes the necessary arrangements for laboratory services, X-rays, medications, special diets and any other treatment or service. There are more than 250 physicians, covering most areas of specialization, credentialed at Kindred. We can assist you and your primary care physician with referrals and consultations as requested.
Nursing services are provided around the clock to meet each patient’s unique needs. Through the Department of Nursing, care plans are created in conjunction with physicians, therapists and specialists in other disciplines.Kindred Hospital has an ongoing patient satisfaction-tracking program in place. We encourage you and your loved one to complete the patient satisfaction questionnaire you will receive during your stay and/or at discharge. Your feedback helps us to constantly improve the levels of quality and compassion of the care our nurses provide. Because of this tool and the dedication of our clinical staff, Kindred Hospital is consistently rated among the top hospitals in our region for excellence in overall patient satisfaction.
Under the direction of the medical staff, our team of respiratory therapists evaluates, treats and manages patients with cardiopulmonary problems. They also provide preventive care. We place heavy emphasis in providing patient and family education as a powerful tool in the patient’s ability to progress toward recovery or more effectively manage chronic illness and achieve the maximum quality of life possible.
Using advanced equipment, the radiology staff performs a variety of X-rays and diagnostic services that play an important role in diagnosing many illnesses.
Surgical services are available for patients around the clock. If necessary, for some specialty procedures, patients may be transferred to another facility.
Operating under the direction of a physician, the laboratory conducts tests as ordered. Advanced equipment performs tests accurately and quickly, with results available on the same day whenever possible.
An integral part of the patient care team is our staff of licensed pharmacists. They prepare medications and provide special dietary supplements necessary for proper nutrition.
The goal of our dietitian is to strive to meet your nutritional needs and prepare diets as ordered by your physician. The dietitian also performs periodic nutritional assessments and monitors your nutrition plan. Please make the dietitian aware of your food preferences and any food allergies you may have.
It is vitally important to us that every patient is discharged to a safe environment. We accomplish this by encouraging our patients to have a full support network in place before they leave us. The tools we use in this endeavor include counseling, discharge planning, referrals to community agencies and securing medical equipment for home use. Family members are encouraged to take part in our counseling and discharge planning processes throughout hospitalization.
There are chaplains on standby to assist you and your family with any needs or concerns. Your minister is also welcome to visit at any time.
